  • 1988 — 1989: Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary, California. BBC Sea Trek Series, London, England. Producer Robin Hillier. Cameraman and Marine Location Coordinator for "Sea Trek" television series shot at the Channel Islands, CA with hosts Mike DeGruy and Martha Holmes.
  • 1985 — 1986: Santa Barbara, California. Parson Runyun Films. Co-produced and directed two highly successful educational films, The Designated Driver and Sober Graduation. Both films were a part of a statewide effort started by Tom in cooperation with the California Highway Patrol to help curb the abuse of drugs and alcohol in respect to driving. Both films were the recipients of Cindy awards.

  • Worked with Assemblywoman Doris Allen and The Committee to Help Ban Gill Nets. A selected still photograph was used as the poster shot of a gill-netted Sea Lion, earning Tom the prestigious Diawa Award for Photographic Journalism.
  • Selected by the US Department of Fish and Wildlife Service for film documentation in the Sea otter relocation project. Received special training by US Fish and Wildlife in the use of LAR-5 oxygen rebreather equipment for this assignment.
